When I got there it was full of people walking lots and lots of dogs and there were guys kite surfing so there wasn't a lot of space because the tide was almost in . I decided to abandon it and head to the pier instead. I parked the car and started my walk along the upper tier of the east pier and it was lovely: the smell of the sea and the sight and sound of the waves washing up over the rocks.......wonderful !! As I walked ,I noticed a woman walking in one direction and then stopping and turning to walk the opposite way.
At first I thought she was waiting for someone to arrive but no one came so I went down to the lower pier and walked along slowly whilst keeping an eye on her. My gut feeling told me that she was in trouble but I didn't know whether or not I was being stupid and over reacting. I hung around for a good hour and she was still there, walking up and down. I ended up phoning the local gardai and explained my plight to them. They were very nice and sent a car down. The guards came and we chatted briefly and they went to find the woman. I watched them drive down to the end of the pier and then turn back. At the same time , I saw the woman disappear from the upper pier and I ran to see where she had gone. The guards came back and said they couldn't see her so I told them that she had gone to the water but was now back and walking towards us. They went to her and one guard sat with her for quite a while. Eventually they came down and she got into the squad car.One of the guys told me that she was known to them and she was wet and that they were going to get her sorted. He thanked me for putting in the call.

Himself indoors is still laughing that she mistook me for the nice person.!! But it is a quote worth sharing.

Yesterday was St Swithin's Day
St Swithun's day if thou dost rain
For forty days it will remain
St Swithun's day if thou be fair
For forty days 'twill rain nae mare
I'm in Kerry for a couple of days.... It rained all day yesterday
And the proverb was true for today. The forecast is not good for tomorrow or for the rest of the week..

The change over nurse at 8 o clock in the morning said that she was sleeping peacefully when she looked in at 8.05 and then when she looked again on her way back from the ward at 8.12 she had passed away .It would be as she said " ahh if I could dial it up that would be the way to go" God Bless you Mam you will be missed .
