Logical1,
If you do a Google image search you'll find several pics of Silver Strand; here's one:-

One day back in the 50s a group of us lads from the Noggin got the train from D/L to Wicklow and walked to the Strand. It was the first time I'd ever been south of Bray, and little did I think that one day I'd be married and living on that same Coast Road.

Tommy Vella was my best mate at school, I was with him when he bought his first guitar, we came home to his house on Mulgrave Street and in a very short time he could play Apache as good as Hank Marvin !!! just by listening to the record.
We went on to form a band, which we called "Vikings Incorporated" I played bass, Tommy Moran from the Kill on drums, Tommy was lead guitar, Jimmy Ennis was the singer and I can't remember the other guitarist, maybe a chap called Byrne from Pottery Road, our first big "gig" was the Top Hat for Mountown Residents annual dance, we were on before The Derek Joy's Showband who were all pxxsed over in the Purty and didn't go on till all hours !!
The Vellas moved up to Tivoli Tce and thats where we used to rehearse or in my house. Another chap joined us, his name was Davy Brannigan from Holles St. a very good player also. Good to Tommy is doing good still.

Wow!! There it is! Thanks, skins. I do remember it being rather small and secluded and so it is. Wonderful! You're fortunate to be living there.
