Tks Gulliver......your post prompted me to explore further....

She was Greek and a singer and movie actress (Topkapi etc). She became a political activist during the military junta period in Greece in the 60s.
She was Minister for Culture and instigated the European Capital of Culture and she also lobbied for the return of the Elgin Marbles to Greece from the British Museum.
A marvellous human being and a marvellous legacy...... wuu wuu

She was indeed. I remember watching her star in the movie "A Man Could Get Killed", alongside James Garner. It gradually dawned on me that I recognised all the places where the action was taking place. Sure enough, it turned ot to be Setubal in Portugal, which I had visited a few times. The movie is probably best associated with it's theme song "Strangers in the Night".
